Bank of China Singapore SWIFT Code

Posted on

Ever wondering what kind of code a SWIFT code is? SWIFT code is that code required performing international bank transfers. The SWIFT code is internationally issued; hence the code is meant to be used for international transfer purposes.

This code acts just like our home address; ensuring the fund transferred will reach the right receiver. In general, the code is made by aligning 8-11 letters. Sometimes it involves numbers as well.

As said earlier, the SWIFT code is required when you are making an international transfer. In case your payee is an account holder of Bank of China Singapore, it means you will need Bank of China Singapore SWIFT code to conduct the transfer properly.

The bank’s SWIFT code is BKCHSGSGXXX. By the way, is the code randomly generated or is there any hidden ‘meaning’ behind the code?

Well, the code has three distinguishable aspects shown: the bank’s identifier, the country code, and the bank code. The aforementioned code also has the same aspects as well. The first four letters (BKCH) code the bank’s identity. The next two, SG, is the country where the branch is located.

Another SG acts as the branch code. Sometimes banks have several different SWIFT codes  and the detailed branch code is shown by the last three letters. However, if there is no specific code, it is often left out blank (making it to be an 8-digit code), or simply written as XXX. For more comprehensive list, you can see the list below.
